Benefits Overview

For all full-time, regular employees, unless otherwise noted.

Medical, Dental & Vision Benefits

New employees are eligible 1st of the month following hire date. Current employees may add/drop/change during open enrollment each year, or within 30 days of qualifying "Life Event Change". Benefit enrollment process is web based through Source Self Service.

 

Life Insurance

Premium paid by EMCORE, at 1x employee's annual base salary, and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance through Jefferson Pilot. Additional life insurance for employee and eligible dependents can be purchased from Jefferson Pilot; price varies according to insured dollar amount and age.Effective 1st of the month following hire date for new employees. Current employees may add/drop/change during open enrollment each year by completing an Evidence of Insurability health questionnaire and paying applicable fees, or within 30 days of qualifying "Life Event Change".

 

401K Retirement Plan

Through PRUDENTIAL. Employees may contribute up to 15% of pay. EMCORE will match 50% of the employee contribution up to 6% of their salary. The match is in the form of Company stock that is vested over 5 years at 20% per year. New employees are eligible to participate 1st of the month following hire date. Current employees may enroll first of each month. Contribution changes may be made bi-weekly. Allocation changes may be made daily.

 

STD / LTD

Employee must be employed for one year and Doctor's certificate required. Short-term disability is paid at 66.66% of weekly salary to a maximum of $444.00 (amount subject to change), not to exceed 26 weeks. In California, SDI benefit is provided through the state and paid based on quarterly earnings.

 

Long-term Disability

Provided by Jefferson Pilot and is 100% employer paid.

 

Employee Assistance Program

Through Horizon Health; this program also applies to family members. Benefit is 100% employer paid and is automatically effective on date of hire.

 

Educational Assistance Program

Available after 6 months of employment. Covers tuition, fees, and books, up to annual maximum of $5,000. All courses and programs must be approved prior to start of class.

 

Flexible Spending Accounts (Healthcare and Child Dependent Day Care)

Effective 1st of the month following hire date for new employees. Current employees may add/drop/change during open enrollment each year, or within 30 days of qualifying "Life Event Change".

Pre-Paid Legal Benefit

Premium is $6.80/pay period. Effective 1st of the month following hire date for new employees. Current employees may withdraw from plan at anytime during year, but may only enter plan during open enrollment each year.

 

Employee Stock Purchase Plan

Employees may contribute up to 10% of pay toward purchase of EMCORE company stock at a discount. EMCORE offers two enrollment periods for all employees. First enrollment is prior to July 1 and the second is prior to January 1. Contribution rate may be changed once per offering period. Employees may withdraw from plan at anytime during year, but they may only enter plan during open enrollment.

 

Direct Deposit

Effective 2nd pay period after completing application. All employees, full-time and part-time, regular and temporary, may participate.

 

Employee Referral Bonus Program

Effective on date of hire. Bonus is $500, paid in $250 increments after 90 and 180 days of continued employment by both employees.

 

Paid Time Off

128 hours per year (accrues beginning date of hire at 4.923 hours/pay period). After 5 years: 168 hours per year. After 10 years: 208 hours per year. PTO may be taken for vacation, sick leave or any other personal need that requires time away from work.

 

Holidays

EMCORE sponsors 10 (8 hr) company designated paid holidays per calendar year. Nine (9) of the Company observed holidays are the same each year with one (1) "floating" holiday that is determined by the Company annually.
